MUFF NYC x The Craft
#MUFFxNYC - The Craft (June 25, 2015)
MUFF crossed the border for the first time and came to NYC on June 25th! Needless to say, it was a hit...
We started the night off with some black magic and photo booth ops! Each table at Videology had a smorgasbord of delectable halloween candies, pencils, skull decals for nails and Ouiji boards. Basically, we wanted you to join our coven and never leave.
Then what better way to get the night rolling than a sweet prize giveaway? The costume contest was a hit and witches lined up, fingers crossed they would walk away with a Nitehawk Giftcard for $50.
Once we made one witch verrrry happy, our emcee for the evening, MUFF Producer Lindsay, invited the incredibly talented writer, director and star of Hey Yun - The Web Series up. Hye Yun introduced the episode Sisters as our first Mini MUFF short selection.
Sisters sees Hye Yun and her sister in an awkward and often heated discussion about Hye Yun's ambitions and goals. The themes of sisterhood and the relationship between women permeates throughout the 9 minute webisode and it's incredibly truthful. Similarly, The Craft is a film about female relationships, oppression, and overcoming oppression.
After The Craft finished and the credits rolled, we made sure to make three more witches very happy with prizes from the Morbid Anatomy Museum and spell kits from Catland Bookstore. It was a magical night indeed! Afterwards we all gathered in the bar for lively discussions with Hye Yun about her web series, social issues The Craft touches on, as well as that god awful remake of the film that slated to happen so very soon. Boo!
It was a night of magic and sisterhood. Thanks for coming out and we can't wait to do it all over again in July! (So local female filmmakers - submit your shorts! DO IT.)
