MUFFTix: Karina Longworth on Wait Till the Sun Shines, Nellie
Oh hey, friends. Siân here; it’s been a while. Sometimes you just have to take a break from It All, ya know? Yeah. (Many thanks to Seana for holding down the MUFF fort whilst I wallowed, she is a beautiful sparkly set of rainbow gelly pens—those really good ones like Hanji carries.) Anyway, as I slowly wake myself up from living on autopilot, I figured the best thing to do via MUFF would be to give away some tickets because fun! Consider it a gift to you all, my children. (Except only one of you can win.)
Anyway: Karina Longworth! She is super rad creator/writer and has a podcast (You Must Remember This) and an upcoming book (Seduction: Sex, Lies and Stardom in Howard Hughes's Hollywood) and Toronto is very lucky to be graced with her presence not once but TWICE at the TIFF Bell Lightbox: on November 18 for an introduction to Humoresque (starring Joan Crawford) and on November 19 for a post-film discussion with columnist Nathalie Atkinson and book signing following Wait Till The Sun Shines, Nellie.
Both events are going to be *chef’s kiss* and we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away to the November 19 event! Wait Till The Sun Shines, Nellie (1946) stars Jean Peters, who unceremoniously disappeared from the screen after her marriage to Howard Hughes in 1957. Karina’s book details their relationship and after the film her and Nathalie will be discussing the history of gender, power, and fame in the Golden Age of Hollywood. Yes, best to grab an extra large popcorn for this one because it is going to be juicy.
You can get your tickets to both events RIGGHHHHTTTTT NOWWWWWWW but, in the words of mighty ABBA, if you want to take a chance, take a chance, take-a-take-a-chance-chance on winning the pair of tickets, enter below! We’ll be drawing a winner in one week on Thursday 15 November and notifying them via email.
