MUFFTix: Lights Dance Festival
Do you ever find a woman who makes badass sloth swag and ask her to be a part of your Death Proof pop up shop and then find out she is an award-winning filmmaker who is also launching her first film festival the following weekend? No? Just us?
Well, anyway, the amazing Sarah Choi of Choifilms is launching the first annual Lights Dance Festival THIS WEEKEND at The Drake Hotel! And what is Lights Dance Festival, you might ask? We’ll let their own words speak for them:
A night of experimental dance films and original work by Momentum Dance Toronto! Lights Dance Festival brings together the vibrant dance and film communities of Ontario to celebrate the beauty of contemporary arts. This year, Lights, in collaboration with Choifilms and Momentum Dance will showcase a collection of original dance cinema and live performances choreographed by local talents.
This is only the first year of Lights Dance Festival, but this annual event will continue to screen high-calibre dance films and offer live performances and workshops to develop a stronger arts community in Canada. Lights aspires to bridge the gap between creators and lovers of dance, and that between dance and cinema. Its mission is to spread awareness of dance media, celebrate diversity and all types of dance form, and make great art more accessible to all.
