MUFF x Trash Palace: Judy Blume/Beverly Cleary Night

MUFF x Trash Palace: Judy Blume/Beverly Cleary Night

The MUFF Society is gettin’ a little trashy next month… by co-presenting the Judy Blume/Beverly Cleary Night with Toronto’s very own Trash Palace. And we've got tickets to giveaway! Huzzah!

Who doesn't look back on their youth and fondly remember reading Beezus and Ramona. Or The Mouse and the Motorcyle! OR Socks! SOCKS! Uh, we might have a lot of feelings when it comes to Beverly Cleary. And don't get us started on Judy Blume.... Pretty sure every gal at some point in her childhood attempted to grow her boobs with a particular exercise and chant care of Are You There God? It's Me Margaret: "We must, we must, we must increase our bust!" (It didn't work for us; did it work for you?)

It may not seem like Ramona belongs with Margaret but you know what, Trash Palace is on to something here because what better way to celebrate two authors and bodies of work that helped to shape so many young people.

Included in the lineup are 16mm prints of a psychedelic animated version of Blume’s Freckle Juice, a wonderfully awkward dramatization of Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great (directed by Blume’s son Lawrence), the vintage doc Judy Blume: Children’s Author, and an episode of the late ‘80s TV series Ramona, based on the Beverly Cleary character and starring Toronto’s very own Sarah Polley!

The whole night kicks off at 9:30 PM with doors opening at 8:30 PM at CineCycle in Toronto (129 Spadina Avenue, down the alley south of Richmond.)! Admission is $10 at the door and there will be snacks, drinks, and merch available for sale along with some awesome door prizes (including vouchers for future MUFF screenings!).

RSVP HERE.

Join the Trash Palace Facebook Group to stay up to date on all their future screenings!
